मुख्यमंत्री शुभेंदु अधिकारी ने अधिकारियों को स्पष्ट निर्देश दिए हैं कि बिना वैध दस्तावेज रह रहे लोगों की पहचान की जाए। उन्होंने कहा कि कानून के तहत कार्रवाई होगी और सीमा सुरक्षा से कोई समझौता नहीं किया जाएगा। सरकार ने मालदा और मुर्शिदाबाद में होल्डिंग सेंटर भी शुरू किए हैं। यहां संदिग्ध लोगों की पहचान और दस्तावेजों की जांच की जा रही है। सुरक्षा एजेंसियों का कहना है कि अवैध बांग्लादेशी घुसपैठ के मामलों में अब तेज कार्रवाई होगी। राजनीतिक स्तर पर भी यह मुद्दा चर्चा में है। कुछ दल इसे राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा से जोड़ रहे हैं, जबकि विपक्ष सरकार पर सवाल उठा रहा है। हालांकि प्रशासन का दावा है कि सभी कदम कानूनी प्रक्रिया के तहत उठाए जा रहे हैं।
